A: Member Unification is the final step in uniting Shipbuilders Credit Union (SCU) accounts with the Kohler Credit Union (KCU) operational system.
A: All members (KCU & legacy SCU) will be impacted by the service interruption during Member Unification weekend. Only legacy SCU members will be affected by a change in operating systems.
A: The benefits will be a seamless, unified member experience designed to support members through life’s everyday moments with:
A: Yes – the institutions have been legally merged since October 1, 2024, but we had to wait to complete full integration of the operating systems.
A: No, but the signs are an indication that we are getting close! The conversion of the operating systems will take place during Member Unification (October 31-November 2) and then starting November 3, all members will be able to utilize all branches for services.
A: Members with legacy Kohler Credit Union accounts can conduct all types of transactions at the legacy SCU branches with full access to the lobby and drive thru.
A: Until November 3, 2025, only the ATM machines at the KCU branches are available to LSCU members (at no fee!). All other types of transactions must still be completed at a legacy Shipbuilders Credit Union branch until Member Unification.
A: We are using multiple channels to distribute information to both legacy SCU and KCU members. Watch your mailbox, your email inbox, your monthly statements, digital banking messages and the kohlercu.com website. You’ll receive additional details in the coming weeks outlining what to expect.
A: Please verify and update your contact information, including your mailing address, email address, and phone number, to ensure you don’t miss any important communications.
A: The KCU VISA® debit card will be mailed in early October, along with instructions for activation and use. Keep it in a safe place until November 3 when you’ll be able to activate it.
A: All Kohler Credit Union (including legacy Shipbuilders Credit Union) branches will close at 5:00 PM on October 31 and will remain closed through November 2.
A: Full service will resume on Monday, November 3 at all branches.
A: No, digital banking and telephone banking for both KCU and legacy SCU will be unavailable during this time.
A: Yes, ATMs will continue to dispense cash as usual.
A: Yes, your current SCU Mastercard® debit card will remain active through November 2.
A: No, your account and routing numbers will remain the same.
A: No, your checks will continue to work—no replacements are needed. Whenever checks are reordered, however, the routing number should be updated to reflect the permanent KCU routing number.
A: No, all automatic payments (ACH), direct deposits, and scheduled transfers will continue without interruption. You don’t need to take any action.
A: Starting November 3, you’ll need to activate and use your new KCU VISA® debit card.
A: No, all legacy SCU members will need to enroll in KCU’s digital banking platform and download the KCU app. More information will be provided soon.
A: Yes – all members will be able to conduct transactions at all branches via all channels (lobby, drive thru, ATM...)
